Caro Chan (Hong Kong)

When you search the horizon for who you are, which face gazes back?

An empty stage. A girl armed with a mirror and her memories.

Wanyu Chen’s original 30-minute one-woman show tenderly unfolds the many veils of her mixed-heritage origins. Through playful tributes and mimicry, lilting Pidgin folk tunes, and earnest attempts at Igbo dance steps, she journeys from her parents’ 1980s wedding in Nigeria to her mother’s first encounter with the splendor of Hong Kong—reviving that improbable romance to piece together the unfinished chapters and move forward whole.

Recounted stories ripple outward like waves, unsettling her image as an outsider—outside of what, and to whom? She lifts the veil with delicate care, weaving fearless confession and tender reckoning into a path that stretches beyond the skin’s boundaries.

Who Nose?

Amanda Lee (Hong Kong/The Netherlands)

After its English premiere at ExploreZ Festival 2025 in Amsterdam, the Cantonese version is now coming to Hong Kong!

Why is a woman’s “lucky nose” believed to bring prosperity to her husband (旺夫) rather than to herself?

Blending Commedia dell’Arte-inspired masks and archetypes, soundscapes, physical theatre, and humor, Who Nose? explores how we see our bodies and the forces shaping these views. Amanda Lee takes audiences from a face-reading stall on Temple Street to deep inside the nostrils and beyond.
